Lerg, Walleye down Brampton

BRAMPTON, ON – Jeff Lerg picked up 36 saves to lead the Walleye to a 4-1 win Friday night in Brampton. Toledo has a record of 3-1-0-1 and is 3-1-0-1 on the road.

Toledo Walleye logoBoth teams generated chances in the first period with neither finding the back of the net. Jeff Lerg posted 13 saves in the first and Edward Pasquale stopped 12 from the Walleye.

Michael Leone scooped up a turnover and wristed a shot past Pasquale at 1:57 of the second period to give the Walleye a 1-0 lead. AJ Jenks and Shane Berschbach would set up Marek Tvrdon (4th goal of the season) for a bomb from the blue line at 12:55. The power play goal gave Toledo a 2-0 lead. The Beast struck for a power play goal at 15:37 to close within one after two periods.

Toledo added empty net goals from Tyler Sikura (2nd) and Kyle Bonis (1st) to pull away in the third period.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jeff Lerg finished with 36 saves on the 37 shots he faced and his record is 2-0-0-1 on the season. Toledo was 4-0-0 last year against Brampton.
