Lehigh Edges Navy 3-2

ANNAPOLIS –  Sunday afternoon at McMullen Arena in Annapolis, Maryland saw the Lehigh Mountain Hawks win a close battle with the Navy Midshipmen, 3-2. The game was a tightly played match until the final buzzer.

The first period was scoreless, until Lehigh’s Ethan Behar scored with assists coming from Michael Grise and Alex Senesi. The goal came with just 2:09 remaining in the period.

Navy evened the score with 11:47 remaining in the second with Joe Kelly getting the goal with helpers from Derek Golembrosky and Conner Hyden. With just 5.6 seconds left in the period, it was Lehigh’s Nick Ramondelli from Ryder Griffith to regain the lead.

At 10:13 of the third, It was the Mountain Hawks Alex Kelly putting Lehigh up by two, with an assist from Cameron Menna. With 5:02 remaining, Midshipman Riley Jamieson pulled Navy to within one with Joe Walton getting the assist. With 1:30 remaining, Navy called a timeout to try and map out a strategy to tie the game. Ten seconds later, Navy would pull goaltender Casey McCormick for the extra skater. Navy maintained posession and was buzzing the net, but time expired, giving the victory to Lehigh.

Mountain Hawks goaltender Kenny Burgess made 36 saves on 38 shots. Navy’s McCormick made 35 saves on 38 shots. All goals in the game were scored at even strength.

Navy next plays at home in two weeks while hosting the annual Crab Pot tournament.
