OSHAWA, ON – Niagara travelled to Oshawa for a second straight year on Family Day playing in back-to-back afternoon contests coming off a big 6-2 victory on home ice vs the Sudbury Wolves. The IceDogs would lose a highly entertaining game by a 10-7 score including big performances from Zak Lavoie, Kevin He, and Daniel Michaud.

Starting Goaltenders: Josh Rosenzweig (NIAG), Jacob Oster (OSH)
The Generals would open the scoring in the early going of the opening period before Zak Lavoie would get his big night going early on with a pass from Alex Assadourian as a strong response for the away team.
The home side would take the lead back before the IceDogs would capitalize on the powerplay thanks to Zak Lavoie getting his second goal of the night and second of the period that would tie the game at two’s.
The IceDogs would get on the board early in period two as Kevin He would take the pass from Zak Lavoie, who would get his third point of the night, and bury a wrist shot top shelf on Oster to give Niagara the lead. Oshawa would respond on the next shift tying the game at three apiece.
Niagara would be awarded a powerplay opportunity and Zak Lavoie would waste no time as a quick release wrist shot went top shelf on Oster for his 3rd goal of the night and 4th point for the former Mississauga Steelhead acquired by the IceDogs at the trade deadline. The home side would make a goal change at this point in the game as Niagara would pot in four goals before the midway point of the contest.
The Generals would tie the game shortly after the midperiod break as the back and forth affair would continue between these teams. Oshawa would take the lead with a point shot late in the period as the IceDogs would go in the room having scored four goals but still trailing by a goal.
Oshawa would start the period with two quick goals extending their lead. Niagara would use a disallowed goal as fuel when Kevin He would take the pass from Zak Lavoie and pot in his second of the evening, with Lavoie earning his 5th point of the game.
An IceDogs powerplay would result in Daniel Michaud potting in the rebound versus his old squad, giving the IceDogs another goal with the man advantage and getting them back within a pair with just under eight minutes to play.
Niagara were able to get within a goal thanks to Andrew LeBlanc burying the Daniel Michaud pass. Three quick goals for the IceDogs would get them back in the game but the Generals would score once again to seal the game in front of 5,805 on this Family Day.
With a six (6) point performance, Zakary Lavoie joins the likes of Ivan Lodnia, Philip Tomasino and David Pacan for most points in a single game by a Niagara IceDog.
