WHEELING, WV – The Toledo Walleye defeated the Wheeling Nailers 5-4 on Saturday night in Wheeling. Pat Nagle stopped 37 of 41 shots and is now 16-2-2 on the season. The Walleye are 20-8-2-1 on the season and 9-5-2-1 on the road.
Ryan Obuchowski scored early to give the Walleye a 1-0 lead at 3:29 of the first period. Mike Borkowski made it a 2-0 Walleye lead at 18:10 of the first.
Erik Bradford gave the Walleye a 3-0 lead 16 seconds in the second period. Wheeling responded with a goal by Troy Josephs to make it a 3-1 game at 2:31 of the second. The Nailers pulled within a goal when Hunter Fejes at 3:27 of the second. Wheeling tied the game at 3-3 on a score by Riley Bourbonnais at 16:58 of the second. The Walleye regained the lead with a goal by Shane Berschbach to make it 4-3 at 19:11 of the second. Borkowski scored his second of the game to give the Walleye a 5-3 lead at 19:49 of the second.
The Nailers pulled within a goal on a score by Cam Brown to make it a 5-4 game at 12:36 of the third period.
