Las Vegas Knights go for goals with sixth pick Tippett a strong goal scoring pick for Vegas

LAS VAGES, NV – The new kids on the block have finally arrived. The newly formed Vegas Golden Knights are officially on the lock in the 2017 NHL Draft. With a clean slate and an open canvas in which to pain the town with, Vegas is ready to take the stage. The real question is: Where do you begin?

If you were starting a team, regardless of who you take in the Expansion Draft, Vegas has but one option coming into the draft, and that is to take the best player available. With only five players taken ahead of them, Vegas has a great opportunity to go for broke regardless if they take a top flight blueliner, a centerman who can patrol the middle of the ice, a winger who can score at any time, or a goaltender to be in net the next 5-10 years.

The last option won’t be fulfilled until the second round since Vegas will be picking third. That leaves the potential for a blueliner. Miro Heiskanen is the top rated d-man on the board and he is arguably the best defenseman in the draft. If Vegas decides to go with offense they will have plenty of options in a forward heavy draft, especially this year.

If it is a center they want Cody Glass and Michael Rasmussen can play both center and wing. The top goal scorer not named Hischier or Patrick is Owen Tippett. Swedish forward Elias Pettersson is a true center but keep in mind the marketing of who VGK will take. Glass and Rasmussen are more versatile which will make them both tough to pass up, and getting a true number one defenseman is hard to come by.

At the end of the day look for Vegas to go offense and lots of it.

“With the first ever selection in Vegas Golden Knights history and the 6th pick overall in the 2017 NHL Draft, from the Mississauga Steelheads, Owen Tippett”
