LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Bucks organization sent out an e-mail on Friday afternoon announcing that team owner Glenn Hart will be hosting a Buck Nation Town Hall meeting at the Laredo Energy Arena on Wednesday, May 18th.
Here is the text of Hart’s invitation:
I would like to personally invite you to attend a Buck Nation Town Hall meeting at the Laredo Energy Arena. The meeting will be held Wednesday May, 18th at 6:45pm. You are a very important member of our Laredo Bucks Family and I would appreciate your attendance. I will be addressing several important issues at that time and am available to answer your questions.
If you a member of the media however, I am asking you to arrive at 7:30pm. I will be addressing your questions, separately at that time.
This follows a request by the organization for their fans’ help in filling out a survey about the franchise, advising the survey would help the Bucks’ staff answer important questions as they plan for the 2011-12 season. The survey, which was sent out to season ticket holders and corporate partners first, was later made available to everyone via the team’s website.
Despite questions about their future, the Bucks say they plan to start their 10th season of professional hockey in the Gateway City in October.
Laredo finished the 2010-11 regular season in last place in the Central Hockey League’s Berry Conference and second to last in the league with a 24-34-8 record and 56 points.
Their long-time rival, the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees won the season series against the Bucks for the first time on February 26th, earning the eighth and final playoff berth in the conference, thereby eliminating the Bucks from post-season play for the first time in their history.
The Bucks, who have struggled financially as well as on the ice for the past couple of seasons had been looking at other less expensive options to playing in the CHL.
