Landeskog out two weeks for Avalanche with lower-body injury

Gabriel Landeskog will be out two weeks for the Colorado Avalanche because of a lower-body injury.

The forward left the Avalanche’s 7-3 win against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday during the second period. Landeskog had an assist to extend his point streak to an NHL career-high 10 games (three goals, 10 assists).

Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri also will not play against the Florida Panthers at Ball Arena on Sunday (8 p.m. ET; SNE, SNO, SNW, ALT, BSFL, ESPN+, NHL LIVE). He will miss his second straight game because of a lower-body injury sustained during a 7-3 win at the New York Rangers on Wednesday.

The Avalanche also are without defensemen Bowen Byram (head) and Ryan Murray (lower body).

Coach Jared Bednar said a forward would be recalled from Colorado of the American Hockey League but did not reveal who that player would be.

Goalie Pavel Francouz was recalled from Colorado of the AHL and will back up Darcy Kuemper. Francouz sprained an ankle during a preseason game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Oct. 5 and has not played this season. He was 3-1-0 with a 1.52 goals-against average, .945 save percentage and one shutout in four games on a conditioning loan.

Francouz’s last NHL game was Game 4 of the Western Conference Second Round in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Dallas Stars, on Aug. 30, 2020. He did not play last season after while recovering from hip surgery.

Golden Knights forward Chandler Stephenson is expected to be available after he didn’t play against the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday because of personal reasons, coach Pete DeBoer said.
