Vitali Kravtsov was traded to the Vancouver Canucks by the New York Rangers for forward William Lockwood and a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft on Saturday.
Kravtsov signed a one-year contract with the Rangers on June 12, 2022 and can become a restricted free agent after this season.
The 23-year-old forward has six points (three goals, three assists) in 28 games this season. He and fellow forward Jake Leschyshyn were scratched for roster management reasons by the Rangers in their past two games, including Saturday’s game against the Washington Capitals.
Kravtsov was assigned to the Rangers’ American Hockey League affiliate in Hartford on Oct. 11, 2021 after not making the opening-night roster. He had 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 19 games for Chelyabinsk of the Kontinental Hockey League, and four points (two goals, two assists) in 20 games for the Rangers in 2020-21.
Selected by New York in the first round (No. 9) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Kravtsov has 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 48 NHL games with the Rangers.
Lockwood, 24, has split his 2022-23 season between the Canucks and Abbotsford of the American Hockey League. Lockwood has an assist in 13 games with Vancouver and 18 points (12 goals, six assists) in 26 games for Abbotsford.
