In Seattle, Philipp Grubauer made 32 saves in a 4-2 win for the Kraken over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night.
“You can’t control what’s coming at you,” Grubauer said. “If it’s a breakaway for the first shot or a fluffy from the red line, stop everything right? That’s the mentality.”
The Kraken improved to 4-5-2.
“We did what we had to do,” Kraken coach Dave Hakstol said. “These nights can be challenging, and we had our struggles finding our legs throughout the first two periods up and down, especially the second period. We just didn’t have a ton of energy, but we turned that around completely in the third.”
The Predators took a 1-0 lead at 6:37 of the first on a power play marker from Tommy Novak .
Nashville dropped to 4-6-0.
“I feel like we’re doing a lot of good things,” said Roman Jos. “It’s a little frustrating right now because we’re not getting the results, we’re not getting the wins. But I think once we’re able to capitalize on some of those opportunities, we will have better success.”
Seattle tied it, 1-1, at 15:21 on a power play strike by Oliver Bjorkstrand,.
The Kraken took a 2-1 lead on a goal from Jared McCann at 17:41,
Josi hit off another Nashville power play at 16:34 to knot the game, 2-2.
“They’re a great team,” Josi said. “They play fast, they’re hard to play against, they’re in your face. There’s not a lot of time.”
Just 24 seconds after the Josi goal, Brian Dumoulin put the Kraken ahead for good with a 3-2 lead.
“That one tonight was a big one by ‘Dumo,’ Hakstol said. “Just to be able to bounce right back and score that goal. Great netfront by [Tye Kartye], really good play by Dumo to pull it and find the shooting lane.”
Seattle’s Vince Dunn scored to ice the game at 8:38 of the third for the 4-2 final.
“It’s great to contribute,” Dumoulin said. “I think that’s the biggest thing, especially with this team, is everyone’s got to contribute for us to win. And we’ve done that here in this last stretch. We’ve gotten goals from different people.”
Juuse Saros made 27 saves in the loss.
