Kraken continue on streak, down Senators, 4-1 Seattle win sixth straight

In Seattle, the Kraken continued their hot streak on Thursday night with a 4-1 win over the visiting Ottawa Senators.

Joey Daccord made 32 saves in the win.

“It would have been nicer if I got another shutout,” Daccord said, tongue in cheek. “No, the win’s great, and I’m happy to just keep this train rolling. We’re playing great. We’re sticking to our game plan, we’re executing it well, and it’s nice to see the results go our way.”

Seattle has won six straight and have an active 10-game point streak, 8-0-2.

The Kraken improved to 16-14-9.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead midway through the opening stanza on a marker from Yanni Gourde.

Seattle pushed the advantage to 2-0 when Tomas Tatar hit at 15:20 of the middle frame.

Andre Burakovsky hit for his goal of the campaign with 57 seconds left in the second period for a 3-0 lead to Seattle.

“I said this morning how happy we were to have him back in the lineup,” Kraken coach Dave Hakstol said. “You go back over the last 12 months, it’s been a long road. There’s been a lot of challenges for him there, but he’s been able to handle it, and it’s great to have him back in the lineup and to see him have some success tonight.”

Burakovsky has iced in only 10 matches this season due to upper body injuries.

The Senators dropped to 14-20-0.

“I thought five minutes cost us the hockey game,” Senators coach Jacques Martin said. “The first goal we gave them. It’s a mistake, but I thought we were playing pretty good, and we just lost our composure. We had a couple good chances to score, their goalie makes some saves, and then we don’t stay with the course. We tried to cheat, we gave them some opportunities, they score two, and it’s tough to come back.”

Parker Kelly was the lone striker for the Senators, his third period goal at 12:20, trimmed the Kraken lead to 3-1.

“I thought our minds slipped a little bit,” the Senators’ Jake Sanderson said. “And it’s a long game, but you’ve got to stay sharp the whole time, and we paid for it.”

Vince Dunn hit an empty net at 17:47  of the third for the 4-1 final count.

Joonas Korpisalo made 24 saves in the loss..

“We had our chances,” Sanderson said. “We had a couple of Grade A [chances], a couple of backdoor plays, but [Daccord] was standing on his head, for sure. Credit to him.”
