FORT WAYNE, IN – The Fort Wayne Komets completed a three-game weekend with a 5-2 win at Kalamazoo Sunday, improving to 6-3-0. The Komets mounted a 4-0 lead before Kalamazoo solved goaltender Pat Nagle with two quick goals in the third period in a span of 11 seconds.
With Kalamazoo netminder Joel Martin pulled for the extra attacker Brett Perlini hit the empty net to give the Komets a three goal cushion and eventual 5-2 win.
Mike Embach started the scoring for the Komets at 10:10 of the first period before Kyle Thomas netted his first two goals of the season. At 11:37 of the third Jordon Southorn scored his fifth goal of the year before the Wings threatened with goals by Charlie Vasaturo and Alex Mallet.
The Komets were outshot for the first time in seven games 34-31. Nagle earned his fourth win of the season stopping 32 shots and improved to 4-1-0 while Kalamazoo’s Martin suffered his the loss allowing four goals on 26 shots to fall to 4-5-1.
The Komets hit the road this week with a game at Cincinnati Wednesday at 7:35pm before skating at Quad City Sunday at 5:05pm (ET). The Komets will back home in action Friday, Nov. 20 when the Wings from Kalamazoo make their third appearance of the year at the coliseum at 8pm.

Notes: Joel Martin stopped 26 of the 30 shots he faced. Dane Fox extended his point-streak to four-games with an assist tonight. With the loss, Kalamazoo’s five-game unbeaten (in regulation) streak was ended.
