INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Komets took a split of a home-and-home series against intrastate rival Indy Saturday night with a 3-2 victory at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
After spotting the Fuel with a goal by leading scorer Alex Lavoie, the Komets score three unanswered markers by Mike Embach, Drew Daniels and Brett Perlini. Indy’s Dylan Clarke made it interesting when he beat Komet goalie Spencer Martin with 4:15 remaining in the third period to draw the Fuel within one but the Komets held on to take the win and two points to move ahead of Indy in the Midwest Division. The Komets improve to 11-8-1 and 23 points and move into third place, trailing first place Quad City by eight points.
Martin earned his sixth win of the season (6-3-0) making 31 saves on 33 shots while Fuel netminder Shane Owen suffered his ninth loss (5-9-0) allowing three goals on 31 shots.
