FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Komets stopped the visiting Indy Fuel Friday night 4-0 in the first of nine meetings between the two intrastate rivals this season.
Goaltender Eric Hartzell earned his seventh pro shutout, second of the campaign and his second win of the year stopping 31 shots in his fourth appearance. Eric Levine suffered his first regulation loss of the year making 38 saves.
Scoring for the Komets were Garrett Thompson, Gabriel Beaupre, Trevor Cheek and Shawn Szydlowski. Cheek also added two assists to celebrated his first game of the season with a three-point night.
The Komets were 1/5 on the power play and successfully stopped all four of Indy’s man advantages.
A Fort Wayne crowd of 7,816 was on hand as the Komets improve to 5-2-0 while Indy falls to 2-4-1.
The Komets have a rare Saturday off before traveling to Brampton to face the Beast Sunday at 2pm to complete week four of 2016-17.
The next Fort Wayne home game is Friday, Nov. 18 when the Quad City Mallards visit for an 8pm faceoff.
