In Las Vegas, the Golden Knights outscored the visiting St Louis Blues on Thursday night.
Jonathan Marchessault‘s second goal of the game, that ended a back and forth event, in extra time for a 6-5 decision for the Knights favor.
Malcolm Subban made 19 saves in the win.
Zach Sanford scored four goals for the Blues, who were playing their first match without Jay Bouwmeester.
“Obviously, it’s tough. We all went through a lot,” St. Louis’ Ryan O’Reilly said. “You could tell we missed [Bouwmeester]. For myself, every game I’ve played here in the last year he’s been here. It’s weird not having him in the room.”
Max Pacioretty also potted two goals for the Knights.
“I think as a team, we’re trying to be successful at home,” Marchessault said. “We’re not necessarily getting the results we wanted. Right now, we have a nice homestand, and it’s time to make a statement here.”
Mackenzie MacEachern also scored for the Blues.
“I think we made a big emphasis making sure to move our feet and move the puck quickly, and that’ll open up the seams,” Pacioretty said, “and that’s kind of what happened tonight.”
Nate Schmidt and Alex Tuch had single markers for Vegas.
“It’s hard to come back on these teams,” Schmidt said. “It’d be nice to get up on these guys and stay ahead, but we had a lot of resolve in our game tonight.”

Jordan Binnington made 46 saves in the loss.
“Just his presence alone is just a calming thing for our team, and you can tell we missed it tonight,” O’Reilly said. “Especially when you get leads like that and he’s a guy that we rely on. It’s a tough adjustment. Emotion was there, we just have to be better, a little more detailed with certain things.”
