Kings win fourth straight, in overtime

The Los Angeles Kings are on a hot streak after the their fourth straight win, this time over the Nashville Predators Thursday night, 3-2, in overtime.

The extra time was needed for the fourth straight game as the Kings are surviving LA Kings 3rdwithout their number one goalie, Jonathan Quick.

Jeff Carter notched the winner with less than 30 seconds left in the overtime session.

“We’d like to win [without going to] overtime and shootout games and save ourselves a little bit,” Carter said. “But … there’s no easy nights in the [Western Conference]. We’re battling every night. If it takes us to overtime every night to win games, then that’s what it is.”

Peter Budaj made 24 saves to get the win and seems to be settling into the hot seat.

“He’s played really well for us. We don’t give up much, and he’s expected to make some big saves, obviously, but we don’t give up many shots,” Kings head coach Darryl Sutter said.

Jake Muzzin had a power play goal and Tyler Toffoli scored as another penalty was expiring as the Predators continue to have special teams issues this road trip.

Viktor Arvidsson  and Craig Smith  scored for the Predators.

“It’s not coming easy right now as far as offense. The goals are just hard to come by right now for a lot of our guys. But I asked for a better effort. Our guys gave that today. But in the end, we’ve got to find points,”  Predators head coach Peter Laviolette said.

Pekka Rinne took the loss on 42 saves.
