Kings throttle Flames, 8-2 Grundstrom, Kempe hit doubles in win 

In Los Angeles, Carl Grundstrom  scored the first and final goals on Friday night for the Kings, in an 8-2 thrashing of the Calgary Flames.The Kings hit for four goals in the first period to help them extend their active point streak to 10 games.

“We got the lead early and then we didn’t look back from there,” Los Angeles forward Quinton Byfield said. “We came out, played our game right at the start. We took the lead and just kept playing the right way. The goals just kept coming for us tonight.”

Pheonix Copley made 16 saves in the win.

The Kings improved to 41-20-10,

Drew Doughty, Gabriel Vilardi, and Viktor Arvidsson also scored in the first period for the 4-0 lead.

“They jumped all over us over the mistakes we made in the first period,” Calgary coach Darryl Sutter said.

The Flames dropped to 31-25-15.

“It was a brutal game,” Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson said. “You know, there’s nothing more to say really. Quick turnaround. We’ve got to be better tomorrow.”

Calgary’s Tyler Toffoli scored 34 seconds into the second period to cut the deficit to 4-1.

Adrian Kempe scored a double in the middle frame for a 6-1 lead to LA headed to the third period.

“I thought our puck pressure and our tenacity was at its best, both when we had the puck and when we didn’t. It allowed us to create turnovers and take advantage of them,” Los Angeles coach Todd McLellan said.

In the third, Noah Hanifin scored at 9:01 for Calgary to make it 6-2.

LA replied again with two goals with Mikey Anderson hitting off the power play for a 7-2 lead, and Grundstrom  added his double for the 8-2 final.Jacob Markstrom surrendered six goals through two periods of play in the loss, he made 14 saves.

Dan Vladar made 11 saves in a mop up role.
