Kings rally to down Panthers on skills

In Los Angeles, Martin Frk blasted a slap shot from the left circle with under a minute to go in the third period to rally the Kings to a 2-2 tie with the Florida Panthers on Sunday night.

The goal forced extra time and the skills competition before Trevor Moore completed the rally for a 3-2 win to LA.

Jonathan Quick made 30 saves in the LA win.

“Looking back at playing in that many games, you just think about how many great relationships you’ve made over the years with teammates, coaches, trainers that you’ve been with forever. Just feel fortunate to have those memories about all those guys,” Quick said.

Eetu Luostarinen and Brandon Montour scored for the Panthers in regulation.

“I think this is how it’s going to be from here on out,” Montour said. “It’s nice when you get to score six, seven, eight goals in a game. But you know, teams tighten it up. They obviously watch your tendencies and that’s how it’s going to be come playoffs. You just have to keep on battling.”

Florida dropped to 40-13-6.

“Obviously, we would have liked to put them away early,” Florida’s Radko Gudas said. “We had our chances, but [Quick is] one of the best goaltenders in the league for a reason for the last decade. He played really well. I just thought we could have won that game earlier.

Rasmus Kupari also scored for the Kings in regulation.

“We have confidence in them, in everyone stepping in the lineup,” Quick said. “A win like tonight, it’s just something that towards the end of the year, these are points that are going to mean a lot.”

Spencer Knight made 35 saves in the Florida loss.
