Kings rally past Sharks in OT

In San Jose, Martin Frk struck for two goals in the third period to rally the Los Angeles Kings back from an 0-2 deficit to the Sharks.

Jeff Carter finished off the rally with a goal in extra time to give the Kings the 3-2 win.

“I got lucky,” Frk said. “I was twice in a good spot and it went in so I’m really happy for that. [I] couldn’t ask for anything better.”

Jack Campbell made 22 saves.

“Nice to see Marty Frk come up and contribute and use his tools,” Kings head coach Todd McLellan said. ” That shot that he has, and the ability to find ice was real important. And a good, aggressive play in overtime got us the win.”

Joe Thornton and Erik Karlsson staked the Sharks to the 2-0 lead.

“We have a good group of guys in here,” Karlsson  said. “We have a good hockey team. We should be a good hockey team. We’re not a good hockey team right now.”

Aaron Dell made 35 saves in the loss.

“We have to have a playoff mentality,” the Sharks’ Patrick Marleau said. “We’re on the outside looking in, and we’ve got to win games. We need a short memory and get ready for tomorrow night’s game (against the Philadelphia Flyers).”
