In Los Angeles, Adrian Kempe struck with 1:58 gone in extra time to give the Kings a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.
“Obviously tonight, it wasn’t our best game, but I think lately the last couple weeks it’s been good,” Kempe said. “I think everyone is just bringing what they can, the effort and everything like that. That shows up in the results that we didn’t get a couple weeks ago.”
Jonathan Quick made 32 saves in the win.
Quick had one save in the extra session, as the Kiings took the puck down ice and toyed with the Devils defense.
“It started with us,” New Jersey head coach Alain Nasreddine said. “We took a shot, not really a real quality shot and ended up giving the [Kings] possession. And they just kept it, kept it, kept it until they got that scoring chance, and it ended up costing us.”
Jesper Bratt had the Devils only goal in the game.
“I think his (Bratt) work ethic is getting better and better. … He always had skill and the instinct to be on the ice and score goals, so I’m happy it’s finally going for him the way that he wants it to,” the Devils’ Pavel Zacha said. “He deserved a few more goals at the start of the season, but he kept working and he is getting rewarded now.”
Dustin Brown tied the game in regulation for the Kings.

Mackenzie Blackwood made 36 saves in the loss.
“He’s been in the zone now for a while,” Nasreddine said. “He was in control, rebounds were good, so it was a great performance again.”
