Kings ease off pedal; Canucks rally for 3-2 win

In Los Angeles Tuesday night, for about 10 minutes it was all Kings. Then the Vancouver Canucks found their legs and rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Los Angeles, 3-2.

The game-winner came in the third period on the power play on a goal from Sven Baertschi.

“They want to win,” Vancouver head coach Travis Green said. “It’s a really good hockey team over there, and to get down two in their building and come back and find a way to win shows a lot.”

After the rocky start, Anders Nilsson settled down and made 30 saves for the win.

Henrik Sedin and Bo Horvat scored to get the Canucks even with the Kings.

“We haven’t been that great as of late, obviously, on the power play, but every single game I think we did certain things really well,” Horvat said. “Tonight, everything just came together. We were really crisp on our passing. And both units were able to deliver.”

LA built the early 2-0 lead on goals from Anze Kopitar and Tanner Pearson.

“We have to look at ourselves,” Los Angeles’ Alec Martinez said. “We all know the way we can play, and we’ve done it in spurts. We need to do it for 60 minutes, not 10 minutes in the first period, then back off.”

Jonathan Quick made 24 saves in taking the loss.

“We had work to do when we were winning hockey games, and we’ve got work to do when we’re losing hockey games,” LA head coach John Stevens said after the loss.
