Kings down Wild

In Los Angeles, Jonathan Quick made 27 saves to help the Kings end a five-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.

Anze Kopitar had a goal and two points in the win.

“Tonight I think everybody was on their game, starting with Johnny back there,” said Kopitar, who has five points (two goals, three assists) during his streak. “Our D corps was good. Forwards up front were making some plays, and we were obviously able to score some goals.”

Matt Dumba scored the lone Wild goal.

“It’s great that we’re playing OK, but when you dig yourself a hole like we’ve done, you can’t win one, lose one the rest of the way,” Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. “You got to put a little run together, and so far we haven’t done that.”

Sean Walker and Jeff Carter also scored for LA.

“Johnny’s been like that for the past few games, so it was more us in front of him where we were giving up Grade-A chances and backdoor tap-ins,” Kopitar  said. “Even the game in Montreal (3-2 loss Saturday), we get off to a poor start, they pour it on. And then he’s the Quickie we all know, and he’s still there tonight.”

Devan Dubnyk made 32 saves in the loss.

“I can’t remember the last time we had face-off goals against us for making the wrong decision off of the face-off,” Boudreau said. “Sometimes it’s very tough, but that was just basic stuff that we’ve done all year or for the last few years. We didn’t do it today, and it cost us two goals.”
