Kielb wins it for Clan in OT

Two goals in just over seven minutes turned defeat into victory for Glasgow Clan, who claimed a dramatic 3-2 overtime win against Belfast Giants at Braehead Arena. Two ice hockey players in purple and white uniforms numbered 49 skate towards the goal defended by a goaltender in white gear, with sticks held ready during play on rink ice surrounded by boards and spectator areas, credited to Glasgow Clan.

After a scoreless opening period, things came to life in the second. The home fans had to wait almost 89 minutes of hockey over the weekend to see their team’s first goal, but when it came, it was worth the wait – Brett Neumann firing an excellent top-corner shot to open the scoring.

Belfast responded with two goals in under four minutes to take the lead – Mike Lee equalising at 34:20 before Ryan Smith put the visitors ahead at 38:15.

Clan looked to be heading for a second home defeat on successive nights, but with 3:48 to play, Giants netminder Jackson Whistle couldn’t control Cade Neilson’s shot, allowing the puck to roll straight to Darien Kielb, who slotted home the tying goal.

In overtime, Tristin Langan set up Kielb again, sending him through 1-on-0. The Clan defenceman coolly deked Whistle before finishing to seal the win 3:30 into the extra frame.
