Kerr out in Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC — The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have chosen not to renew the contract of head coach Kevin Kerr ahead of the 2020–21 season.

Kerr served as head coach of the Swamp Rabbits for the past two seasons. He compiled a record of 54-71-11, with a third place finish in the South Division during the shortened 2019–20 season.

Following a professional playing career that played out from 1987 to 2005 (not to mention six seasons of pro roller hockey between 1993 and 1999), Kerr parlayed several seasons as a player-assistant coach into his first head coaching position with the UHL’s Flint Generals in 2006. He returned to the pros in 2015 when he joined the SPHL’s Macon Mayhem. In three seasons with the Mayhem, Kerr went 94-56-18 with three straight post-season berths and a league championship in 2017 added to his resume.

Kerr’s work in Macon got him noticed by teams in the ECHL, leading to his joining the Swamp Rabbits prior to the start of the 2018-19 season.

The search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
