Kelowna Rockets are living on the edge

READING, PA – The Kelowna Rockets are one win away from become the second piece of the Memorial Cup puzzle. The Rockets lead their best-of-seven series against the Calgary Hitmen 3-0. If Kelowna can win Wednesday night, they will the WHL championship and will become the first of the Canadian Hockey League champions to reach the cup tournament. The Rimouski Oceanic are the host team and have already received and automatic bid. Calgary swept their way to the WHL finals by sweeping their opponents in rounds 1-3, and now face being swept by Kelowna, who defeated the Hitmen 2-0 Monday night. Mark Guggenberger got the shutout for Kelowna by stopping all 21 Calgary shots. In the OHL, the Brampton Battalion came back in Game 3 of their series against the Windsor Spitfires and avoiding a 3-0 hole by winning 4-2. The Spitfires outshot Brampton 34-29, and despite Taylor Hall’s two goals on the night, held on for the win. In the QMJHL, the Drummondville Voltigeurs edged the Shawinigan Cataractes 5-4 Tuesday night to take a 2-1 series lead. The Voltigeurs are now 14-1 in the playoffs.
