In St Paul, the question is whom do you speak of first?
On Friday night, Kirill Kaprizov picked up his first NHL hat trick, with all goals in the third period as the Minnesota Wild shutout the Arizona
“[Kaprizov] doesn’t surprise us, right? I’m sure you guys aren’t getting surprised,” Wild head coach Dean Evason said. “Every night, there’s something. He’s a very special hockey player. We’re going to come to expect that to happen.”Coyotes, 4-0.
Not to be outdone, Cam Talbot made 35 saves for the shutout.
“It was a big team effort,” Talbot said. “Just going in there and trying to give us a chance to win. Shutout’s always a bonus and a big team stat. Guys played great in front of me. They were laying out blocking shots at the end there. Just fun to be back in there and keep the win streak going at home.”
Arizona dropped to 12-11-4.
“We just didn’t finish tonight,” Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet said. “We had three breakaways, we had some chances, we didn’t score. That’s the story.
“You [have to] finish. You have opportunities, we need to score some goals.”
Jonas Brodin also had a goal for the Wild in the four-goal final frame.
Minnesota improved to 16-8-1.
“It’s fun for the team and for Kirill to score three goals,” the Wild’s Mats Zuccarello said. “It’s a big day for him. But most importantly it’s a huge win for us at the end of the day.”
Adin Hill made 28 saves in the loss.
“We got off to a great start,” Hill said. “We had some early pressure, got some shots on net, had some good chances. I think we hit a couple of posts tonight. Just unfortunate bounces.”
