Following a flurry of news and rumors on Thursday, the stream of information on Patrick Kane’s legal issues in upstate New York has slowed.
On Friday morning, the police chief for Hamburg (NY) issued the following statement.
“The town of Hamburg police department is investigating an incident that occurred at the residence of NHL player Patrick Kane last weekend. At this time, we are gathering information and awaiting forensic testing results. We will have no further comment on this investigation at this time,” Chief Gregory Wickett said.
The original reports were through the Buffalo News on Thursday.
Allegations are centered on a sexual assault claim from last weekend at or near Kane’s home in the area.
Both the Chicago Blackhawks and National Hockey League released brief statements on Thursday acknowledging the news.
The Buffalo News has remained at the front o the story and reports that a prosecutor, specializing in rape and sexual assault, has been assigned to the case.
Roseanne Johnson leads the Erie County District Attorney’s office efforts in such cases.
No charges have been filed and Kane has not turned himself into police as suggested on Thursday in various outlets.
“I think you’re wasting your time, quite frankly,” Wickett said when asked in the statement release as to the next update on information.
Pro Hockey News will continue to monitor the progress of the investigation.
