Jordie Benn was traded to the Winnipeg Jets by the Vancouver Canucks on Monday for a sixth-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
The 33-year-old defenseman has scored nine points (one goal, eight assists) in 31 games this season and can become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
An undrafted free agent who signed an entry-level contract with the Dallas Stars on July 10, 2011, Benn has scored 126 points (24 goals, 102 assists) in 548 regular-season games for the Canucks, Montreal Canadiens and Stars. He has three assists in 20 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Winnipeg (25-13-3) is second in the seven-team Scotia North Division and visits the Ottawa Senators on Monday (7 p.m. ET; TSN5, RDS2, TSN3, NHL.TV).
Vancouver (16-18-3) is sixth in the North, eight points behind the fourth-place Montreal Canadiens. The top four teams will make the playoffs.
The Canucks are scheduled to return Friday when they host the Edmonton Oilers after having eight games postponed due to COVID-19 protocol.
