The win was the 100th NHL career victory for Jones.
“We played with a lot of energy tonight,” Jones said. “That’s a tough, big, strong, physical team, and I thought we really answered the bell tonight. When we play with energy like that, and that kind of compete, we can beat any team in the League. It’s just a matter of rolling that game out every night.”
The Sharks’ goals came from Marcus Sorensen and Joe Pavelski.
“Obviously, he (Jones) got the shutout,” LA’s Anze Kopitar said. “A lot of credit to him, but I think we could’ve done more, for sure, absolutely, which is always the case anyway. They played good. They didn’t give us too much.
“The first period was pretty good on our part. Second period, we got stalled with the penalties, and then taking a few more in the third is not going to create any momentum, and that’s what happened.”
The win pushed the Sharks to a record of 19-11-4.
“That was a fun hockey game to be a part of. It was fun to be on the bench, the physical part was fun. You could feel the energy, not only in the building, you could feel it on the bench,” Sharks assistant coach Rob Zettler said after the win.

Jonathan Quick made 28 saves in the loss as the Kings dropped to 22-11-4 with the loss and also dropped into a first place tie with the Vegas Golden Knights (48 points each) in the Pacific Division.
That is not bad news for the Kings given they were not considered to be contenders coming into the season.
“I think we can be happy with where we’re at in terms of the standings, but I think we have to be really honest that we have a lot of work to do, but this group has been honest with themselves from Day One,” LA head coach John Stevens said. “I think they’re a group that works really hard to get better.”
