Jets sink Canucks in OT, 4-3

In Vancouver, Elias Pettersson rescued the Canucks from another regulation loss with a power play goal with 38 seconds in regulation to force extra time with a 3-3 tie.

Pierre-Luc Dubois then broke the Canucks’ with his second goal of the game for a 4-3 Jets win in extra time.

“It feels good,” Dubois said. “To finally get out there and play, and then get that nice pass from ‘Wheels’ and just score, it kind of felt like a weight off my shoulders and then the rest of the game to keep applying that pressure and keep getting better.”

Dubois had three points on the night, his first points in three games with the Jets.

“It’s strong of us to come back and tie the game, but we had a lead going into the third,” Pettersson said. “We had the game in our hands and we kind of let it go.”

Connor Hellebuyck made 31 saves for the win.

Brandon Sutter also scored for the Canucks.

“That was an emotional loss for our guys,” Canucks head coach Travis Green said.

Mark Scheifele had a single marker for the Jets.

“They’re two really smart players Blake Wheeler who set up Dubois game-winner, and Scheifele) with the puck, without the puck,” Dubois said. “There’s not much that both of them can’t do on the ice, so you see the chemistry they have and try to read off them, try to be in the right spot.”

Neal Pionk scored for the Jets off the power play in the midle frame to give them a 3-2 lead.

“He (Dubois) was awesome,” Scheifele said. “We skated together yesterday in practice, feeling pretty good and he was fun to play with. Skilled, big, does everything. It was fun to get a game with him and excited to have him back in the lineup, but boy, he’s fun to play with.”

Braden Holtby made 27 saves in the loss.

“I thought we played a pretty good game,” Holtby said. “Myself, I just have to be better.”
