Jets score five straight to down Stars

The Winnipeg Jets let the Dallas Stars get comfortable with a 1-0 early second period lead and then struck for five unanswered goals in a 5-1 win Sunday night.

Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves to get the win.

“I liked the way we played tonight, and if we can continue to build on this and play this way, this is where we want to be,” Hellebuyck said.

Alexander Radulov scored the lone goal in the middle frame on the power play.

Josh Morrissey, Bryan Little, Adam Lowry, Tyler Myers, and Kyle Connor all scored for the Jets.

“They had a really good start, especially the first four or five shifts they were rolling pretty good and had us on our heels,” Little said. “It was one of those times that even though they opened the scoring, we were confident going into the rest of the game that we were going to come back.”

Winnipeg improved to 26-13-2.

“I think when we take a look at that game, we have to realize how we got back to a lot of the little things,” Myers said. “The forwards were quick down low, making quick passes, making quick plays. It was right from the opening face-off. So we’ve got to realize what gave us that success and keep it going.”

For Dallas, the offense is still not showing up; they have two or fewer goals in eight of their last ten games.

“We had a pretty good 40 (minutes) even though we were down by one,” Stars captain Jamie Benn said. “I thought we dominated most of the second period. Come out in the third and you don’t execute and it’s just a little simple play and it’s in the back of your net.”

Ben Bishop made 25 saves in the loss.

“It wasn’t a bad game,” Bishop said. “I don’t think the score reflected how we played. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but obviously, you want to come away with some points.”
