Jets rout Blue Jackets, 6-1 Toffoli hits for double in Jets win - Update to follow

In Columbus, the visiting Winnipeg Jets took a 5-0 lead into the third period on Sunday en route to a 6-1 shellacking of the Blue Jackets.

The Jets hit for four goals in the middle frame.

Tyler Toffoli hit for a double for the Jets.

Connor Hellebuyck made 30 saves in the win.

The Jets improved to 43-19-5

Kyle Connor staked the Jets to a 1-0 lead in the opening stanza on a strike at 1:26, scoring off a shot from the slot.

In the middle frame, the Jets broke the game open with Nikolaj Ehlers  scoring from the left circle for a 2-0 lead to the Jets with 70 seconds gone in the frame.

Toffoli potted his first of the game midway through the second for a 3-0 advantage for Winnipeg.

The Blue Jackets dropped to 23-34-11.

Logan Stanley potted his marker of the campaign at 12:00 of the second..

The outburst continued in the second period with  Vladislav Namestnikov stretching the lead to 5-0 at 18:24, scoring from below the left circle.

In the the third period, the Blue Jackets broke through with a goal by Brendan Gaunce with 39 seconds gone in the period for a 5-1 score.

Toffoli collected his double at, scoring off a breakaway, at 17:34 for the 6-1 final count on the scoreboard.

It was Toffoli’s 30th of the season, fourth since moving to the Jets on the trade deadline, good move New Jersey.

Elvis Merzlikins made 21 saves in the loss.
