In Winnipeg, the Jets scored four times in the third period and rallied past the Edmonton Oilers, 6-4 on Tuesday night.
Connor Hellebuyck made 22 saves to get the win.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Adam Larsson all scored for the Oilers who could not hold lead throughout the game.
“I thought it was a pace game,” Oilers head coach Dave Tippett said. “Second period had lots of pace. We had some chances in the second period to extend the lead, and they came out in the third and pushed. We made a couple of mistakes and it ended up in the back of our net. And then we chased it.”
Andrew Copp had two goals and four points for the Jets.
“I feel like I’ve expanded my game,” Copp said. “I haven’t really tried to change it too much, but I’ve tried to increase my offensive output, make a few more plays, be a little more crisp, execute, and it kind of came to fruition tonight. The puck has been going in. We’ve had a lot of chances though. I feel like we could have had more.”
Nikolaj Ehlers also had four points on three assists.
“I feel really good, which is to me the most important thing,” Ehlers said. “Going out there and playing with [Paul Stastny] and [Copp] right now, they’re amazing players. They’re making it so much easier for me to keep using my speed. They’re two fantastic players.”
The Jets have won four of their last five games, the loss was to the Oilers on Sunday.
“He (Copp) hasn’t changed his identity,” Jets head coach Paul Maurice said. “So he’s not cheating the game to do it. He’s true to his own game. He’s a very, very strong defensive player that takes great pride in the penalty kill, so he’s a little wounded tonight when they’re scoring. But he’s been honest about the way that he’s generated his offense.”
Adam Lowry, Mathieu Perreault and Stastny also scored for Winnipeg.
The Oilers dropped to 3-5-0.
Mikko Koskinen made 27 saves in the loss.
“We just let them have too much time with the puck and they took that one out from underneath us,” the Oilers’ Josh Archibald said. “I think we’ve just got to come together more as a group. We’ve got to put full games together. We’re not quite putting a full 60 minutes.”
