WINNIPEG, Manitoba – With a summer filled with deadlines for the Winnipeg Jets management they can officially scratch “twenty-three-man roster” off their list.
The Jets made a couple roster moves today and they have officially cut Troy Bodie from the team. They also put Eric Fher and Aaron Gagnon on injured reserve, while listing Kendall McArdle and Ben Maxwell as day-to-day.
Troy Bodie, who was grew up watching the Winnipeg Jets, was hoping to make the curent roster for a couple reasons. The Jets were his favourite team growing up and he is from Portage La Prairie, a farming community an hour from Winnipeg.
Bodie, who has 107 NHL games under his belt, played for Anaheim and Carolina in the 2010-2011 season. He was cut by the Canes at the end of the season.
Bodie will now be looking for a new NHL or European team.
The Jets also picked up Brett MacLean, a six foot two hundred pound left winger, who was placed on waivers by the Phoenix Coyotes.
MacLean was drafted 32nd overall in the 2007 entry draft by the Coyotes but had failed to crack the roster and spent his time with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.
MacLean did spend thirteen games in the National Hockey League last year collecting three points on two goals and one assist.
Jets General Manager has seen a lot of MacLean from his ten years as the Chicago Wolves GM in the American Hockey League.
MacLean will join the Winnipeg Jets immediately.
