Jets get past Sharks in OT, 5-4

In San Jose Tuesday, a back and forth match between the Sharks and Winnipeg Jets ended in overtime with a goal by  Bryan Little to give the Jets a 5-4 win.

“It definitely felt good tonight, especially after the way that game went,” Little said. “We got a really good start, and they clawed their way back into it. It was a good hockey game, back and forth. It’s good to get the two points.”

Joe PavelskiLogan Couture and Chris Tierney scored for the Sharks.

Timo Meier forced the extra session with a game-tying goal midway through the third period.

“I think it’s good to get a point out of this game,” Meier said. “They’re a good team. They have a lot of speed, they have a lot of skill. For us to battle back, I think it shows the chemistry on our team and shows that even from being down we can come back.”

Connor Hellebuyck made 29 saves to help the Jets move to 29-13-7.

“It starts with our leadership. Those guys, you don’t have to say much as a coach. They know. I think there’s a feeling that we’re never out of a game,” Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer said after teh Sharks tied the game in the third before losing in OT. “I think when you have special players and special leaders like that, that’s a nice feeling because you know that as long as there’s time on the clock we can still get back in the game.”

Aaron Dell made 18 saves in the loss as the Sharks dropped to 26-14-7.
