Jets get back at Wild in 6-3 win Jets win much more sedate outcome - Update to follow

In Winnipeg, one night after surrendering 10 goals to the Minnesota Wild, the rematch on Tuesday night ended with a 6-3 win to the Jets. Winnipeg had a lad of 3-0 and 5-1 before the Wild had a chance to gear up their offense late.

Laurent Brossoit made 36 saves in the win.

The Jets improved to 34-15-5.

Gabriel Vilardi staked the Jets to a 1-0 lead just ahead of the midway point of the opening stanza when he hit off the power play.

The Jets’ Mason Appleton needed all of 14 seconds to push the lead to 2-0 on a shot from the left side.

The Wild dropped to 26-24-6 for the their first regulation loss in six games.

Kyle Connor advanced the lead to 3-0 at 1:54 of the middle frame off a shot in the slot.

The Wild trimmed the deficit to 3-1 off a power play marker from Marco Rossi, his first of a double on the night. The goal came at 14:10.

Vilardi collected his double midway through the third period to stretch the lead to 4-1 for Winnipeg.

Sean Monahan then added  marker, his third straight game with a goal, to make it 5-1 to the Jets at 10:36.

The Wild tried to rally back with a pair of goals.

Kiril Kaprizov hit off the power play at 12:33 of the third to make it 5-2.

Rossi hit for his double at 14:11 to trim the deficit to 5-3..

The Jets sealed the win, and the two points, when Nino Niederreiter potted a marker into an empty net with just under three minutes left on the regulation clock. Marc-Andre Fleury made 24 saves in the loss.
