Jets Find More Fun In Florida

SUNRISE Fla – The Winnipeg Jets were loving the sun in Florida and picked the right time to be away from the extreme cold weather back in Winnipeg. This warm weather is just what they needed as they pulled off an impressive 4-1 win against the Florida Panthers as they have now won two in a row on back to back nights.

Coach Paul Maurice rolled the dice and started Connor Hellebuyck in back-to-back games and he got the performance he was looking for as Hellebuyck slammed the door on the Panthers making 31 saves and was named the game’s first star.

There was no slow start tonight for the visitors as they had their game faces on early and were ready to play.

After a scoreless opening frame the Jets got on the board in the second as Shawn Matthias scored his fifth of the season.

Two minutes later the rookie sensation Patrik Laine converted a beauty feed from Bryan Little to bury his 21st of the season .

Greg McKegg scored his first of the season to put the Panthers on the board.

Jaromir Jagr recorded his 1136th assist on the play to move past Paul Coffey into fifth place all time in assists for the NHL.

In the third, Nik Ehlers notched his 13th after yet another beauty dish off the stick of Little.

Mark Scheifele rounded out the scoring for the Jets with his 17th of the season.

Laine and Little both finished the game with two points apiece.

The Jets played a solid tough game and will now enjoy an extra day off on the beach before heading to Buffalo to play the Sabres on Saturday.

Winnipeg evens their record up at 19-19-3 on the season and now sit just two points out of a playoff spot in the West.
