In Winnipeg, the Jets found themselves on the up side of a 403 decision over the visiting Boston Bruins.
Mark Scheifele struck for a goal and three points in the win.
“It’s a big win against a good team,” Scheifele said. “Any time you get a win against a team like that you’re going be happy. You can be happy with it tonight and then on comes Calgary on Saturday and then we got to get prepared for that one.”
The Jets held their one-point lead over the Nashville Predators who also won on Thursday night.
The Bruins have lost three straight and their 19-game point streak is a distant memory.
Connor Hellebuyck made 36 saves to get the win.
Charlie McAvoy, Joakim Nordstrom and Charlie Coyle scored for Boston
“Poor starts, first and foremost,” the Bruins’ Patrice Bergeron said. “We shot ourselves in the foot at the start of every game [in the losing streak], so tough to get back in this league. Tough to do that every night. And we’ve done it on the tail end of our [19-game] point streak.”
The Bruins dropped to 42-20-9.
Blake Wheeler scored his 20th of the season for Winnipeg.
“I play with good players and I play a lot of minutes,” Wheeler said. “Obviously I’ve been given a great opportunity so I just try to take advantage of it with the guys that I’m playing with.”
Jacob Trouba and Nikolaj Ehlers also scored for the Jets.

Tuukka Rask made 20 saves in the loss.
“They’re a home team that lost a game the other night late in the game, you knew they were going to come hard so you’ve got to weather the storm,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. “We got ourselves back into it, but not quite enough.”
