Jets down Vegas in OT, 5-4

In Las Vegas, Mattias Janmark scored twice in the final six minutes of regulation on Sunday to get the Golden Knights even with the Winnipeg Jets, 4-4, on Sunday.

The Jets’ Kyle Connor hit for the game-winner midway through the extra session to give Winnipeg the 5-4 decision.

“These past couple of weeks, they’ve been challenging,” Connor said. “It’s been tough to watch other teams play, and for us try to get as ready as you can.”

Connor Hellebuyck made 42 saves in the Jets win.

“I think we could’ve had a couple more [goals],” Janmark said. “I think maybe [Hellebuyck] had a little puck luck and obviously played a good game. We want to bear down and score a few more on the chances we have in the future.”

Kristian Reichel collected his first career NHL goal for Winnipeg.

The Jets improved to 15-11-5.

Michael Amadio had a goal and two points for Vegas.

“I think we did a lot of good things in the game,” Amadio said. “Obviously it would’ve been nice to hold on and get the win, but it showed a lot of character just to come back. We’ll take the point.”

Evgenii Dadonov also scored for the Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights dropped to 22-12-1.

Paul Stastny and Andrew Copp added markers for the Jets.

“We knew that there was probably going to be some rust,” Winnipeg coach Dave Lowry said. “We felt we did the drills right in practice to prepare us.”

Laurent Brossoit made 32 saves in the Vegas loss.
