COLUMBUS – The Columbus Blue Jackets completed their historic playoff sweep against the Tampa bay Lightning 7-3 Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena. The Lightning out shot the Jackets 33-25, but it was all for naught.
Tampa bay forwards had very little against Columbus netminder Sergei Bobrovsky, stopping 30 shots against the Tampa Bay snipers.

Both teams went back and forth taking shots on net. The Jackets came out with a hard forecheck against the Lightning, taking 8 shots on net to Tamp bay’s7. Columbus drew first blood with a power play goal scored by center Alexander Texier, assisted by Seth Jones and Pierre-Luc Dubois at 2:26. Pierre-Luc Dubois lit the lamp at 3:48 with a backhand assisted by Oliver Bjorkstrand and Adam Clending.
Tampa Bay struck back with a goal by Steven Stamkos, assisted by Nikita Kucherov and Anthony Cirelli. The score was 2-1 Columbus at the end of the first period.
The goal floodgates opened up in the second period. Columbus scored with a goal by Seth Jones from the point with a rocket of a slap shot at 6:28 making it 3-1. Jones was assisted by Cam Atkinson and Matt Duchene.
Tamp Bay center Cedric Paquette answered back with a tip in, assisted by Braydon Corburn and Jan Rutta at 13:03 making it 3-2.
Tampa center Brayden Point tied the game 3-3 with a power play goal assisted by Stamkos and Kucherov at 17:52.
The Jackets took the lead with a goal by Bjorkstrand, assisted by Scott Harrington and Dubois at 18:46.

The loud thunderous chants of “CBJ! CBJ CBJ” boomed through Nationwide Arena as the face off started the third period. The Lightning began an onslaught of shots against Bobrovsky, but the Columbus netminder stood his ground stopping 13 shots.
Columbus left winger Artemi Panarin scored unassisted with an empty net goal at 18:07. Texier scored his second goal of the night at 18:26 assisted by Zach Weresnski. Matt Duchene ended the night with an empty net goal at 19:51 assisted by David Savard and Harrington
