The Jackals killed off two Manchester power plays in the second period to keep it a one-goal game heading into the third period. Elmira got its first power play of the game with 2:25 to play in regulation and Sebastien Sylvestre, who drew the penalty, converted to tie the game at one with 1:39 left in the third. He took a pass from Mike Radja at the blue line and delayed to created a shooting lane, snapping a shot into the top corner through a Kenton Miller screen. Sylvestre’s fourth goal of the season forced overtime, the fourth overtime game for the Jackals in 2016-17.
After both sides exchanged opportunities early in the 3-on-3 overtime, defenseman Steven Kaunisto began a rush for the Jackals from the defensive zone. He raced down the right wing and got to the bottom of the right circle, when he centered a pass for Justin Kea, who tipped it in at 3:02 of overtime for his first goal of the season, giving the Jackals the 2-1 win. Kea was reassigned by the Rochester Americans to the Jackals earlier in the day.
