In Brooklyn Thursday, Artemi Panarin scored twice on the power play and ended the night with three points to help the Chicago Blackhawks to a 5-4 win over the New York Islanders.
It took a goal from Richard Panik with less than seven minutes left in regulation to give the Hawks the win.
“(I) like (our game), especially after the first period,” said Panik, who converted a pass from Dennis Rasmussen. “Our line, we didn’t have it a lot on our stick. They scored two goals on us. But it feels good. We step up and find a way to get one for our team.”
The Isles, who fell to 11-13-5, got goals from Andrew Ladd, Casey Cizikas, Ryan Strome and Anders Lee in the loss.

“We’ve got to find our game where we’re not tightening up,” Lee said. “It just seems like we tighten up a bit and are a little sporadic. But at the same time, we’re playing good hockey against these guys, and in the third period, we tighten up and they take over.”
The Islanders came out fast in the first period to keep the boo-birds in their seats but Chicago erased a 2-0 deficit and the period ended at 3-3 with the momentum of the early lead fizzled out.
“It’s our job to adapt. They kind of scored the same goal three times, two for sure. We have to adapt faster as players and try to execute our game plan,” New York’s Travis Hamonic said the Chicago rally in the fist period. “They’ve got good players over there. You give them time, they’re going to pick you apart,”
Chicago is 4-0-1 in their five and Scott Darling made 28 saves for the win.
Thomas Greiss made 27 saves in taking the loss for the Isles.
“I feel for the guys a little bit because we played hard at even strength, there’s no doubt in my mind. You play like that, you’ve got a chance to win,” New York head coach Jack Capuano said after the loss. “Obviously, our power play wasn’t good enough, theirs was, and we didn’t execute on a couple of plays.”
