Indiana Blizzard cease operations, Chi-Town Shooters return

DYER, Ind – The All American Hockey League (AAHL) has announced today that the Indiana Blizzard have ceased operations effective immediately. The AAHL is also proud to welcome back the Chi-Town Shooters for the remainder of the 2010-2011 season. “We are very excited to welcome back a successful, first class organization” stated AAHL Commissioner Rod Davidson. “The Shooters have proved in the past to be a force on and off the ice and we (the AAHL) have no doubt this season will be no different. The All American Hockey League would like to thank the Indiana Blizzard and the Vitales for all the help and time invested in the league, we wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors.” The Chi-Town Shooters will be owned and operated by NWI Hockey. Eileen Butcher, the figure head of the ownership group will see to the clubs day to day operations.  “We are very excited to be back in the AAHL” said Butcher. “I was a part of the Shooters ownership group last season and enjoyed watching our club flourish and succeed. I believe we have the right model here to make this team last for the rest of this season and into the future.” The Shooters have welcomed back Darren Seid as the clubs head coach. Darren spent the first half of the season as a player for the Battle Creek Revolution. Before playing the for the Revolution, Darren spent two seasons behind the Shooters bench winning a Davidson Cup Championship and two regular season Championships. “It was very tough for me to walk away from being a player with such a great group of guys and from a first class organization in Battle Creek. I have accepted this opportunity to come back to the Chi-Town Shooters as Head Coach to help keep hockey in Northwest Indiana, and an organization in the AAHL. This season I am looking forward to exciting our fans with a team who comes to compete with a high level of energy every night. We will provide goals, hits, fights, solid defense, and with good fortune some wins. Hopefully we will make a push into the playoffs, and once there of course our goal is the same as everyone else’s.” said Darren Seid. The All American Hockey League has allowed the Chi-Town Shooters to assume all the Indiana Blizzard’s players and current record. The Shooters will begin their 2010-2011 debut when they visit the Lapeer Loggers on Friday, January 7th at 7:30pm. The Shooters will then return to the Midwest Training and Ice Center on Saturday, January 8th when they take on the Queen City Storm.
