In Los Angeles Thursday, the Kings got a boost from newly acquired Jarome Iginla as he scored a power play goal with just over a minute left in regulation to send the Kings to a 3 -2win over the Nashville Predators.
“It feels good, especially with a new team and being with the guys and to be able to try to find some way to contribute,” Iginla said. “It’s exciting to be out there at the end in a key situation and just trying to get some shots.”
It was a big two points for the Kings who are within one point of the St Louis Blues for the second wild card spot in the west.
“Every game for us now is a playoff game,” LA head coach Darryl Sutter said.
Iginla also had a goal in regulation for the Kings and Marian Gaborik scored.
Jonathan Quick made 21 saves for the win as the Kings improved to 32-28-6.
The loss was the fourth straight for the Preds who have just a four-point cushion on the third spot in the Central Division over the Blues.
Calle Jarnkrok and Kevin Fiala were the Predators’ goal scorers as they dropped to 32-24-11.
“We started a little bit slow honestly,” Nashville’s Mike Fisher said. “We got better towards the end of the game. Overall, I feel like we can play better, and we got to find a way to win. We had the lead in the third, and then we made a mistake there in overtime. Pekka played unbelievable for us.”

Pekka Rinne had 31 saves in the loss.
“Our guys played well tonight. In the first period, we were under a little bit of a siege. The second and third period, I thought we were really good. It gets to the 4-on-3 in overtime and it wins the game, Nashville head coach Peter Laviolette said after the game.
