Rosemont, IL – The Rockford IceHogs had their point streak halted against the Chicago Wolves, falling 5-2 on Saturday night inside Allstate Arena.
Chicago struck first 6:04 into the 1st period when Evan Vierling beat Rockford’s Owen Flores under the blocker. The Hogs countered back three minutes later with a power play strike. Rem Pitlick blasted in his 11th of the year from the high slot past Cayden Primeau.
The Wolves regained the lead 2-1 when Bradly Nadeau found his spot from the far circle and went upstairs with a wrist shot. Ryan Suzuki jumped off the bench and joined the play in the offensive zone, before doubling the Chicago lead from slot.
In the 2nd period, Suzuki double dipped, this time converting on a Chicago 5-on-3 power play for a 4-1 advantage.
Rockford had a strong push in the final 20 minutes, but couldn’t get more than a Kevin Lombardi PPG past Primeau. The Chicago goaltender shut the door in the crease and Gleb Trikozov added an empty-net goal for the 5-2 final.
Up next, the IceHogs host the Wolves on Saturday, January 18 at 4:00 p.m. inside the BMO Center. It’s a Screw City night, Hammy’s Birthday Celebration and a Postgame Skate with tickets available at icehogs.com.
