IceDogs Top Wolves in OT

Sudbury, ON – Going up 4-2 after two periods, the Niagara IceDogs and Owen Flores held on in the end for a 5-4 overtime victory.Just 2 minutes into the game, Andrew LeBlanc struck first off of a feed down low from Gerard Keane and opened up the scoring early on for the Dogs. Owen Flores stood tall and stopped all but 1 in the first the keep the game tied 1-1 after 1 with shots favouring the home team 13-8.

The second period was all Niagara. The rookie Kevin He parked in-front on the door step found the rebound off of a Sirizzotti shot and breakout pass from Pasqaule Zito. Just over a minute later, picking the puck off of a Fimis shot, Andrew LeBlanc circled around the net to feed his brother, Jacob LeBlanc to find his first of the season and first as a Niagara IceDog. Although Sudbury brought the game within 1 goal momentarily, a quick release from David Jesus found Nolan Dann in front for the redirect to take a 4-2 lead. Outshot 35-26 by the end of the second, Niagara net-minder Owen Flores stood tall to maintain the IceDogs lead.

Two third period Sudbury goals and 49 Owen Flores stops sent this game to overtime. Just under 3 minutes into extra time, a diving save by Flores and go ahead pass from Nolan Dann sent Aidan Castle back the other way to seal this game in overtime for the IceDogs.

Next up, the Niagara IceDogs go further north to take on the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds tomorrow for their third road game in three days.
