MELBOURNE, Australia – The Sydney Ice Dogs made their way to Melbourne to take on the Ice in a double header.
The first goal was scored in the second period for by Matt Armstrong/ Melbourne Ice. 
There was no multiple scorers for this game all single scorers. Kristoffer Backman- Melbourne Ice, Grant Toulmin – Sydney Ice Dogs and for a rookie, Tyrone Bronte- Melbourne Ice. Final score Melbourne Ice 4-1.
Sunday, with the two teams meeting again, Sydney started strong having control of the puck and scoring with in the first two minutes, then again in the second leading the Melbourne Ice 2-0. The third Melbourne Ice rallied back to win 4-2.
Sunday’s game was not without controversy, the first period there was a broken nose, this was penalized with 20min game misconduct. There were plenty of penalties not called when there were two front teeth that were knocked out. Both teams were frustrated and it boiled over with two players fighting.
Sydney have a strong defense, they certainly made it difficult for the Ice to run all over them. But there is doubt that they will feature in the finals for 2017.
The Melbourne Ice are looking strong with the finals around the corner they have proven that they are hard to beat, leading up to the finals the Melbourne Ice are going to play Newcastle North Stars for two games and then face Canberra Brave for four games.
