MELBOURNE, Australia – The Melbourne Ice hosted a doubleheader with the Canberra Brave this past weekend.
On Saturday, the Ice and Brave were locked in a heated exchange of goals with the Brave taking a 5-4 lead early in the third period on a power play goal from Mitchell
Henning.
But the Ice reeled off three unanswered goals to rally back for a 7-5 win.
Five different skaters scored for the Brave. Joseph Hughes had two goals for the Ice to go along with three assists.
The same teams hooked up on Sunday and the Ice again used three unanswered goals in the third period to break a three all tie and send them to the sweep, 6-3.
Jason Baclig had a hat trick in the win; Hughes had three more assists in the win for the Ice.
Mathieu Guertin scored twice for the Brave in the loss.
The Ice sit atop the AIHL ladder with 32 points and have not lost in regulation this season.
