PENSACOLA – the Ice Flyers’ Andrew Durham’s goal midway through the third period evened the score with the Birmingham Bulls, 3-3, on Sunday night and forced extra time.
After a scoreless first period, Mitch Atkins put the Ice Flyers up 1-0.
The Bulls replied with two goals, 23 seconds apart, to take a 2-1 lead into the third period.
Matt Wiesner scored off the power play at 10:33, and Dylan Johnson scored at 10:56 for the lead.
In the third, Kolten Olynek scored off the power play, with 38 seconds of fresh ice used, for Pensacola to get the even again, 2-2.
Vadim Vasjonkin restored the Bulls’ lead at 3-2, just six seconds later.
Olynek and Tommy Stang scored in the penalties for the win.
