MELBOURNE, Australia – The Melbourne Ice hosted the Sydney IceDogs Saturday. The Ice entered the game at the top of the AIHL ladder; their 3-1 win
over the IceDogs Saturday improved their record to a gaudy 6-0-0-3 for 24 points.
Despite Sydney residing near bottom of the ladder in the league they played a tight game and tied the match at 1-all on a goal from Ellesse Carini at early in the final frame.
Matt Armstrong had given the Ice a 1-0 lead midway through the first period and goalie Troy Davenport made that standup until Carini scored.
Chris Yule scored a little over seven minutes after the IceDogs knotted the game for a 2-1 lead. Joseph Hughes and Jason Baclig assisted.
With 4:50 left in the game, those three connected again to give the Ice a 3-1 lead.
