Hurricanes need OT to solve Flyers, 5-4 Canes tie it with less than a second on the clock, win it OT - PHN's Best Shots of the Game - Update to follow

PHILADELPHIA – The Carolina Hurricanes needed extra time on Saturday to defeat the Flyers, 5-4.

The Flyers rallied back from a 2-0 deficit in the first period,  to take a 4-3 lad in the game.

It all came down around the Flyers ears in a span of 29 seconds of game time.

Martin Necas tied the game, 4-4 with less than one second left on the game clock in the third period to force the extra session.

The goal came off a 6-on-4 power play.

Sebastian Aho then scored the game-winner with 28 seconds gone in the extra session for the 5-4 win to Carolina.

Carolina improved to 45-15-8.

Frederik Andersen made 29 saves in the Canes win.

Aho and Brady Skjei  scored in the opening stanza to give the Canes a 2-0 lad.

Philadelphia got one back in the middle frame when Tyson Foerster  potted his first career NHL goal to trim the deficit to 2-1.

Aho scored at 13:55 of the second to give the Canes a 3-1 lad.

The Flyers dropped to 25-32-12.

The Flyers added on more before the end of the second on a strike by Noah Cates  for a 3-2 lead to Carolina, and Joel Farabee scored early in the third to knot the game, 3-3.

Philadelphia claimed the lead, 4-3 on a strike by Brendan Lemieux,.

Felix Sandstrom made 29 saves in the Flyers loss.
